Advent: Week 1 | Day 1
November 28 | John 1:1-5
Walk in the Light by chere hampton
No matter how dark the world gets, know that there is always light surrounding you.
When shadows creep and trouble follows, hold on to the light that is within you. It may seem hopeless, it may feel uncertain, and the ground may tremble and shake beneath you, but the light from above guides every step.
You are never alone. You are not forsaken. You are loved in every sacred way. You are blessed with God’s light, even when you cannot see it. It is above you, beneath you, and pours out from within. You were created in His light and you are held in his love. No matter the obstacle, no matter the trial or tribulation, His love is always with you, in struggle, and in triumph.
Delight in His light, and His joy will also be yours. There is no need to fear. Fall into His love and let it carry you. Darkness is no match for God’s light and love.
This holiday season, so many are in their own personal darkness. Many are worried about how to provide for their families and themselves. Many are trapped in darkness and sadness. The light that God placed within you can help someone else. Share that light with people you meet this holiday season. We can light up the world with love. It’s the best gift you can give.
Reflection: How will you walk in the light this Advent season? How will you seek that light if you are in need?
Prayer: Holy One, keep me bathed in your light. Help me walk in your path and share your light with others who have lost their way. Help those who are blinded by darkness open their eyes to your light. Make me a vessel of light so others can feel your love. All this we ask and pray for in your name, Amen.
